Our Beginnings, Culture, and Team

Our Beginnings

Valley Church is part of the United Methodist Church. Our connectional system blessed us with 20 prime acres right off Hardin Valley Road. We launched Valley Church in the middle of a pandemic in September of 2020. Initially, we could not find a temporary home for Sunday morning worship. Therefore, we began with a 5:00 p.m. service at Hardin Valley Academy. In May of 2021, we moved to our new temporary home at The Clayton Center at Pellissippi State Community College. We now worship on Sunday mornings at 11:00 a.m.

We are really enjoying our new space at The Clayton Center! It provides a beautiful space to worship and amazing rooms for our children's ministries.

Since we had a successful launch during a pandemic, why not also raise money for a new community center? We began our building campaign and to-date we have raised over $500,000 towards construction! With the assistance of our Annual Conference, we were finally able to begin construction. On July 27th, 2021, we broke ground on our new community center. Our Culture

1- Spirit Led

To allow the Spirit to lead, we must be connected. We work to remain connected through the study of scripture, prayer, worship, and living in community. It is our prayer that Valley Church can be a culture that has a positive affect on other cultures.

2- Missional

It is our vision for our diversity to meet on the mission field. When serving, our focus is on mission and not the "news at 11." God created us to serve.

The framework of our mission focus is "here, near, and far." We long to pour into our local community, our city, our country, and international missions.

3- Healthy & Fun

Ephesians 4:25 - 5:2 provides the template for a healthy church. Being led by the Spirit, we work to speak truth in love and light to others using Jesus as our illustration.

We feel that a church community should be fun. Church doesn't have to mean that we take ourselves too seriously. Joy is part of the package deal when you open your life up to Jesus. It flows from a life that has traveled from struggle to peace. If you're not in a season of joy or peace, come hang out. We believe joy is contagious!
